one of my horses legs has started filling up at night , have bandaged them but doesn't really help that much , no signs of any mud fever , anybody's else's like this ?? X

Mine's get like this if she hasn't been out enough in the day, usually go down with exercise. I also find that MSM in the feed helps!

My cob mare had dreadfully filled legs this morning. I am hoping it was down to her vaccinations she had at the weekend, as I know they can have this effect.

My TB mares legs sometimes fill up overnight if left in. There isn't any heat or pain and always go down when turned out or exercised. You could try bandaging, although mine sometimes wears stable chaps because she once cut down to the bone of her inside / cannon bone with her opposite hoof so she wears chaps as a precaution which also seems to help with the filling up

Mine does this from time to time in one of her back legs which she had a bout of lymphangitis in years ago with her previous owner. I don't find banging dosen't help. I just try and keep on top of it by lots of excerise and turnout, cold hosing at night and feeding cleavers, which seems to really help.

MSM really helps my mare.

If she's done hard work that day and has to stay in at night, Carr Day & Martin's Ice Blue Gel really helps stop them filling too. Means I don't have to bandage which is a definate plus as she eats them!

Don't think it's competition legal tho, so be careful if you have a show in the next few days.

We have had success with magnetic boots overnight. Just the brushing boots are fine. We have 1 mare who came to us after the vet advised PTS due to lymphangitis. The initial case took a while, but now in the winter she wears magnetic boots overnight. Also old mare gets filled legs and they have helped her too and also helped with stiffness.
