Well digby loves it, but my old boy is not keen at all, hes been on it a week and a half and has lucie bix, total eclipse and pura beet i have tried mixing it wetter/drier/with his old food (which he sometimes eventually eats but takes him 24hrs) but he really jut is not interested.

I dot want to give up, but i was hoping that by now he would just have given in refusing it :s

anyone had any horses who dont like it at all? and did they learn to?

Mines gone off it I have to add a mix in (completely defeats the object) to get him to eat it, I have another bag to use up then I'm not quite sure what I'm going to do

Try taking out the Total Eclipse, mine wouldnt touch it with that in as it smells a bit fishy!

I don't use that but he still doesn't seem to like it!

Mine is not a big fan either and she's the greediest mare in the world! she's still on the seaweed and lunar eclipse but will only eat it when mixed with alfa oil and calm and condition, she wouldn't eat it when mixed with molasses-free alfalfa

Mine was picky with it too. Stick with it a bit longer.

You could try adding some mint and/ or garlic, cider vinegar and maybe grated carrot to tempt him.

Mine never finishes it in one go, but it's gone by the morning.

thanks i have tried each thing seperatly and all different combinations but still wont and isnt even keen if most of it is hi-fi lite.
I cant add garlic as then he definatly wouldnt eat it i have chppped carrots/apples in there and he still wont.

it wouldnt be the end of the world if i had to change but we did buy about 3 bags of lucie bix and pura beet but i have only soaked 2 scoop fulls of beet so far as im not using it.
both my instructors horses are on it (one has a livery) and their horses are eating it.

I feed it (well, allfalfa nuts and speedi beet these days) with topspec balancer and a sprinkle of their conditioning cubes. To acttually get him to eat it I had to really reduce the quantities, but keep the tasty stuff the same. I just persevered, but it took about six months before I could rely on him to eat it.
My boy was a TB used to cearel based racing mixes so it was bound to be a shocker!

Mine have woofed it down from the word go but I think if yours eats it overnight then you shouldn't worry. I wish mine would 'get' the concept of trickle feeding.

It's just not very enticing when not smothered in molasses/honey or whatever gunk they usually throw in so persevere. It's a bit like getting a kid to drink milk that's not got chocolate Nesquick in it, they get spoilt!

Ive recently rang the about advice on their feeds as i may need a hay replacer. They told me that horses are more likely to pick at the food through out the night and not to worry if this is how they ate it, its perfectly ok.
Try disolving a couple of polo mints in a mug of boiling water and mix that into the feed

I have changed Beau over to Fibre beet - which has alfa A in it, and I am noticing that he is eating slower - as if not so sure a bout it. He was like that with the Simple Sytems to, but his greedy cobness kept him eating it. So I suspect its the alfa/lucie bix? They are the same right - or am I just haveing a brain fart at 3:30am?

My mare ate one bag of Lucie Bix, then went off it. It stopped her eating her feed for over a week, in the end I gave up and went back to s.beet, mix and Hifi.
Have no idea why.

yeh mines still not eating iot.

i have been mixing it with hi-fi lite at a high ratio of the hi-fi to lucie bix, and not making it too wet as he doesnt like wet feeds and he had eaten half of a tiny amount last night.

maybe i shall have to change back.

I ve one that eats anything, she won't go near a feed with the Brewers Yeast in it, even a tiny amount, she'd starve all night before she ate it.
