As my pony cannot be ridden and is kept out 24/7, I just wondered what those of you in the same position do with your ponies.

I do a lot of clicker training with him and have entered him into in-hand competitions. I also walk him around the lanes.

Just wondered what you do with yours? Anything or do you just leave them to it grazing happily all day.

I have youngsters who are being grown slowly (tbh I am just enjoying the groundwork so much I am in no rush to get on them!). They are both clickertrained, but I use it to do schooling work, teach them about bend, balance, moving in all directions, extension/collection so when we come to riding they should know it all already and it is just a case of transferring the aids. If you haven't explored this side of clickertraining I really would - Alexandra Kurland's work is great to watch and there are some lovely videos on the Clicker Center website to inspire you. They aren't cheap but the videos are very useful (haven't seen all of them but was pleasantly surprised by what I have watched).

You could also longrein, something a bit different to inhand walking and you can do all sorts of things with that in the field and out hacking. Some driving groups have longreining lessons and competitions especially over the winter which might be fun.

And then there is horse agility - needs a bit of equipment but mostly easy enough to collect yourself. If you are competitive or want to see how you are doing then you can enter online competitions via video to get marks.

Broke mine into driving as I cannot ride her she is 12 hh :D

^^ Yep, there's that too, for some reason I assumed the pony can't be ridden due to injury or something rather than size!!
