does anyone have one?
how does it affect them?
im inteerested in loaning a horse that roars.he does so quite obviously/loudly in trot/canter.
i want to do dressage and a bit of juming and hacking with him.

my horse roars when in racing canter and gallop. doesnt affect him at all, and i only realised he roared when my friend (ex-jockey) took him out last week- iv had him 5 years!

I think mine roars, well she sounds like a steam train going round when she gets excited/trots/canters. 2 years ago she was vetted and scoped and passed and then was sold for £20K (not to me). I don't think it affects her at all for what I do, Show jumping.

It depends on why they roar. Sometimes horses make a noise when they only have something slightly wrong and it doesnt affect them. I had a mare who roared, only noticable in canter. She struggled with fast work so I had her scoped and she had almost complete paralysis of the left side of the larnyx and had to have a hobday and tieback. She recovered from the operation, which was successful and was fine.

You should be ok if you don't want to do much fast work, but it depends on the severity. Talk to the owners about it - nothing to lose.

thanks

he seemed fine with the flat work, athough he did get quite tired at the end even though he is well muscled.the owner doesnt seem to think its an issue
ive seen him jump top wing too but i dont know what he would be like round a course, but i just want to do flat with abit of jumping.
