I have just started ambling about on my horse as hacking is all he needs at his age, but i've noticed he seems to "suck" his tongue through one side of his mouth? He is only 3yrs old (ex-racehorse) and he hasn't done it on our preliminary wanders in the arena (just checking what our brakes are like, not schooling).
I've never had a horse before that does this - he doesn't lol it out the side, just looks like he's trying to suck something off his teeth! My friend was horrified as she thought he was biting it but he's not.
He's ridden in a normal snaffle and noseband (no flash) with martingale. It doesn't appear to affect the brakes or how he rides. . . It is just a quirk?
