Horse's top lip

When I give my horse a good old scratch, he sticks his top lip out - most horses do this I believe. However, my OH took some photos of us schooling yesterday and I noticed on the photos he does it when being ridden too. Or at least something similar.

Is this normal?

There's one on our yard who smiles when ridden... not sure who or what at but it does tickle us

They do the weirdest things...

Phew - I wondered whether he was protesting in some way. He seems happy and willing when being schooled.

mine goes round with her bottom lip constantly on the move, she flaps it open and closed all the time.!
