Things are not going too well with my two at the moment, poor old Jerry has half pulled a shoe of, which was great timing as was supposed to be taking him schooling this afternoon, and he is having a saddle fitted on tuesday, (can i have a saddle fitted without cantering? We havent really perfected that yet bless him

) so hopefully nice farrier will come and put it back on tomorrow. we have also discovered that he hates flies with a vengence, so the fly rugs are out already.

Hector is still 3 legged, foot has been polticed but still no puss, so not sure if there is an abcess in there or not. Vet seemed worried about the possiblity that is might be a pedel bone fracture (as he was so lame) but said an abcess was more likely. He had a complete wobbly this morning when i turned Jerry out, so poor old Jerry had to stay in and keep him company

Can you tell whos the baby and whos the nice experinced old guy?

How long till i start to see puss if it is an abcess?

So anyway, remind me someone why I have horses?!

Would have thought that unless it is a very deep abcess, you should see something within 24/48hrs of poulticing !.

Same happened to my boy, he came in hopping lame on a back leg and vet thought it could be either abcess or pedal bone. After 48 hours no puss so we x-rayed and he had chipped a small piece off his pedal bone. It did heal without any problems.

Hope it's just an abcess !!

When did Hector come lame? And what leg? It's just that I thought he was a tiny bit unsound in the videos you posted but then figured it was just him fidgetting.

havent posted any vids of H that i can think of, might be some of Jerry maybe? (please dont tell me he looked lame!!

hacked Hector out on saturday and he was fine, got back, untacked and suddenly he is on three legs

, we only walked as he isnt really up to trotting much (semi retired and just had months of box rest) but he is crippled now bless him, he wouldnt even eat saturday night, had vet straight out as with Hector is never anything simple, and he looked so awful

Oh, lol! I assumed it was Hector

. I don't know then, I was just looking at some lovely vids of you a couple of days ago down in Gallery.....just had a thought; maybe it wasn't you and I am more confused than normal

.

Yes that's the ones. I think it was on the second video? But then on the others he looked fine. Who is the horse in the vids then? I assumed it was the new horse who I thought was called Hector LOL!! Is this Jerry then?

Have you had the farrier out to have a dig about? Normally if there is a abcess the farrier will find it, or at least shed some light as to where the pain/problem is.
Our old boyhas a abcess in both hind feet. It was the farrier that found the abcesses. He had to dig them out as they wouldn't break through.

Thats Jerry, the new one, the surface in that school is horrendus, so might of been that, he had just passed a 5 stage so hopefully is sound

will get some more videos of him next week end for you to see, (and put my mind at ease), as taking him house sitting with me and they have a lovely arena for us to play in

Hector is my lovely broken ex race horse who is never 100% sound but was just getting better after doing both hind suspenseries, he is jinxed though
