Hello!
Myself and my partner currently have a mare and gelding, these two at old yard (left end of September) where not interested in each other, they was stabled opposite and a few down and turnt out with other horses so only time they would be together was on lorry or at the couple of stay away shows we did! Never had an issue until we moved yards,
at new yard horses they where not next to each other as previous yard -was about 8 stables away -mare was on boxrest and gelding going out as usual. Gelding has randomly since moving to new place he has been obsessed with the mare which now the mare has joined with his behaviour to the point you can’t take one away without other going mad which is also an issue when mare need to be as calm as possible while rehabbing!
has anyone had two horses like this? We unfortunately can’t have them on separate yards due to being 5 day livery and both us working full time and me being at uni… does anyone have any suggestions we could try?
we are moving to a new yard - the mare is going today and he is going next week in hope they will make new friends while apart, but kinda stuck as never had two horses this obsessed with each other?
Thank you!

Me! I had this issue at the old yard about 6 years ago my friend and I thought it would be fine if we shared a field!! Uh uh! Within 10 days she couldn’t take shadow out without bb! Im really not sure why cause BB always lunged for Shadow and didnt really like him. He would run the fence line , tank round the field all the time. It was ridiculous. After day 14 I had enough and had to spend the next month trying to get BB back to not being bothered. Unfortunately its not easy.
I started by separating the field and just leaving him be while he got used to his own space. Turns out he preferred it anyway.
Now I wont even field share for a night, he likes his own space and doesn’t mind chatting over the fence but not in the same field. Are you able to seperate them both? Still be in the same field but sectioned off?
