Hi everyone!

I am in the middle of purchasing my own yard, i would really like to install a horsewalker but have heard so many bad things now about the circular ones being to harsh on the legs and even the rubber surfaces now are not such a good idea?! I have heard about the oval walkers but i assume these take a lot more space up? and to be honest am struggling to find suppliers of them? One thing i thought i could do to save a bit of cost is leave it uncovered and just have it installed inside my new open barn...has anyone done that?

Any info on peoples experiences would be really appreciated!

Thanks :)

We have a circular one that takes 5 horses. It's wide enough that they can easy turn round so you don't have to take them off to change direction. Its uncovered and has rubber matting flooring thats now 10yrs old and not worn. Most of the horses here (approx 40) go on for 20/30 mins 5 times a week and we haven't had any problems.

Occasionally we put the 2 and 3yr olds on for 5 mins with a nanny horse just for the experience. Walking in a 15m circle for 5 mins max doesn't do them any harm.

Totally depends how long they go on for and the diameter of the circle. i put my own on for around 40 mins per day (2x 20 mins). ours is 50ft diameter so nice and wide. we started off with a surface on ours but it didn't last long....soon got boggy from all the manure and was a back breaker to level. so now have rubber tiles.....much better.

If you have the space i would def put it in a barn!

Also can highly recommend kylix Netherlands horse walkers! But do NOT touch kylix UK (completely different company) as they are con artists!

Thanks for your help and advice :) Think i'm going to go for a monarch 6 horse covered walker 54 diameter...now just got to find the right place to put it.
