Horseware Amigo stable rugs

Quick question about Amigo stable rugs...

Is the fit the same as the Amigo TOs? Pony could do with a full neck stable rug and I like the look of the Amigo stable rugs. However, bought him an Amigo TO in 6ft9 (he's 17hh and a bit, and a big chap with it) which is not quite long enough but gapes around the shoulders/neck. There's no point spending money on a stable rug if it's going to fit exactly the same. His Rambo TO fits him best but then I suppose you get what you pay for, and I don't really want to pay Rambo prices!

I have the stable rug with no neck and find it moulds very nicely. I use the same size in the NZ and Id say the stable comes up fractionally longer in the back. Both are Amigo.
 
Thanks Spans. I've always used Amigos and really liked them but I think they must have changed the style slightly recently as it just doesn't fit quite as nicely or snugly as it used to.

TBH it's pretty cheap so worth a try anyway!
 
I know they're the economy end of the market but I've used them for years and always been happy with them. It was only when I bought one recently for new horse and thought the quality didn't seem to be as good as it was, and they seem to be a different shape to how they were.

But you get what you pay for I guess! I could pay £30 for an Amigo stable rug that is ok and does the job but maybe not the ideal fit, or I could pay £70 for the top of the range or a Mark Todd. I paid a fortune for a MT for my Welshy and he trashed it quicker than any of his cheap rugs

thats what theyre meant to be though- the horseware bargain range. I find they fit really nicely as stable rugs.
 
Ive just bought the amigo insulator medium weight and to be honest for £26 its a total bargain my 17 hh ISH has a 7ft but id reckon that id of got away with a 6ft 9! He was nice and cosy under his amigo TO in the last snow/frozen spell up here in scotland.

Palomino - re your comment we can nearly have the full range of amigo TOS for the price of one rambo supreme plus a stable rug. Im my view thats what you call a bargain in todays credit crunch!
 
Hi , Amigo ... or any of the Horseware range rugs are very suitable for narrower beasties ( TB's etc ). You will find they dont fit well around the neck if you have a beastie thats abit broader across the chest. All my rugs are Horsware and have been since they first came out and I've been really happy with all of them . If you need something for a beastie thats a regular/medium shape go for the Weatherbeeta range or if broader than regular go for the Shires range . If really broad Masta ...but they do tend to go along the drip strip ! ( I work in a busy tack shop so selling rugs all day and we mend rugs so I do this all day !!! ). Hope this helps

Thanks. My problem is the other way around - I could do with going down a size to get the fit around the neck and shoulders, but then it'd be miles too short...

Think I might have to give in and buy something more expensive!!

Missyp - I agree completely. Rambos and Mark Todds are lovely but why should I pay three times the price when the Amigo's last just as long!

bj666, thats really good advice as my horse is quite broad and I find amigos need to be a size bigger than normal, weatherbeetas are an ok fit but her masta rugs fit the best. Haven't tried shires.
