Anyone got this rug and prepared to offer a quick review? :confused:

Do the sizes come up a little snug like the other Rambo's?

I've been using the Rambo Dustbuster as a fly rug on my other horse which is brilliant because it's so soft, lightweight and tight-knit that not even the midges can get through it.

Can't decide whether to buy another Dustbuster or go for the Rambo Protector instead this time! :D
 
I've got one of the Protector rugs, and I have to admit I love it!

The one who wears it is a 6ft 3 in all his other rugs, and in this one as well so wouldn't say it was much different - he is quite a chunky TB!

This is the first year of me using it, and it is still in one piece with no snags or rips (touch wood!) - which considering he is turned out with a seriel rug chewer is pretty impressive! It is quite a thick net fabric, but it is soft and dries out quickly if it rains. You can get the liners to attach to it as well, which I am quite tempted by!

I like how much it covers him, nice large tail flap plus it doesn't rub anywhere. Plus it helps keep him clean...he is grey! Not had any problems with flies etc when he wears so I would give it a thumbs up!
 
I have one and my horse lives in it 24/7 and I love it! in fact it is so good I am saving for a 2nd one so I have a spare when I wash the one I have. They are a bit smaller fitting my horse is 6" in rugs but its an inch short on her bum :)
 
I used to have a Rambo protector, the fit of it was great, and it wasn't too small or too big, was lovely but the only thing was it did seem to make my horse very hot because of the type of material used, and it was quite heavy, but other than that it was a nice rug!
 
I rate it!! Mines turned out with a playful 3 year old who likes to try and pull the rug off! Ive seen him with the rug in his mouth tugging away BUT no rips or tears at all!! I turned him out without it a few days ago and he came in with 7 HUGE horse fly bites so it definetley does a good job!
 
Mine is in its second season and I really rate this rug, only downsize is that as others have said it is heavy material but its lasting well and for a horse that seems to destruct most rugs this one when washed still looks like new.

This size was spot on with my lad
 
I have both the protector and the fly buster.

The fly buster is the nicer rug as the belly cover velcro's closed and gives more protection - the size I have is 6ft 3 fits nicely no rubs on shoulders or mane - two years old, no rips or signs of wear, horse happy wearing it and certainly seems to do the job, I don't use fly spray in addition - would certainly buy another.

The Protector I have in a size 7ft 3. 5 years old, again no rubs etc (bit on the mane but with this horse anything does it. No sign's of wear good as new, again don't use fly spray, horse happy wearing it etc etc.

I have ONE complaint - now this is very possibly a horsewear gripe rather than a protector gripe!! If you buy a 7ft 3 rug there is a good chance you want it for a fairly decent sized horse - so why tell me do they keep the depth of the rugs the same as with the 6ft 3 ???? The 7ft 3 rug needs more belly cover.

Personally if you don't have a monster sized horse out the field I would get the fly buster - think its about £10 more - if you do have a big chap or chapess then I think the belly coverage might be a problem which ever one you go for.

PS if anyone has a fly buster in 7ft 3 can you let me know if the belly cover closes - cheers
 
Super! Thanks so much for the advice peeps, I managed to find a Rambo Protector online for £75 which I thought was rather bargainous!

Looking forward to receiving it not after all the good reviews :)
