Will this fit a 15.2hh chunky cob who normally takes 6'9" rugs!! Or should i stick to weatherbeeta. I've always heard mixed things about horseware ie leaking etc so not sure which way to go xxx
Have you had a look at the rambo xl turnout rugs? They're specifically designed for the bigger boned horse, and worth the extra money.
Personally, I think horseware rugs are a better fit on my girls than weatherbeetas, and have never had any problems with them leaking.
I don't know about neck covers as I never use them.
Chloe has got a lightweight weatherbeeta, and it does pull at the neck and shoulders:
Her heavyweight rugs are the rambo xl, and they are a fantastic fit on her. She's had them for 7 years and so far they haven't needed reproofing or repairing.
Terrible photos but gives you an idea of the fit of the XL.
She's only 6'3 long, but very 'chunky'!
Yes, very similar to my cob in shape. Want a combo rug really as my girl is blanket clipped and is 23yr now (not that she acts it!!) Going to your horse fri/sat so will look there. Thanks for your help, it's nice to meet someone with another big cob, is yours a mare? xxxx
Yep, she's a mare - shire x clydesdale... We've really struggled to get a good fit with rugs, have tried on all sorts over the years! Good luck with your rug shopping, and enjoy YHL, looks like there are some good stalls there.
Its nice to hear of others with large cobs. I was at my wits end with buying rugs, they all pull terribly at the shoulder and don't look at all comfortable but will now give the Rambo's a try.
