HORSEWATCH - HORSES FOUND BUT WHO IS THEIR OWNER?

HORSES FOUND WANDERING
Two horses have been found wandering in the Leigh area of Lancashire. One is a coloured stallion, one is a coloured mare. The rumour is that they have been stolen from somewhere down south, then dumped when they could not be sold. The RSPCA would not take them, so the police were happy to leave them with someone local. If these two horses are not claimed in 25 days then they will be legally owned by the person who is now looking after them. This person will be quite glad to have them, and when they have gained some weight will probably sell them on.

I just can't bare the thought that someone out there does not know what has happened to their horses.

Have they been scanned to check if they are microchipped???

I do hope this post helps the rightful owners locate their horses - one would have thought that if a Stallion had been stolen then those in the know would have been alerted by now?

I doubt very much that they are chipped, as the RSPCA can scan them, most probably they are gypsy ponies, who might not even be missed until the weekend! I wish the finder all the best for looking after them as the ponies must think they have gone to heaven.

why wont the RSPCA take them? would they have just left them there if no one else was kind enough to offer them a home?

There was a coloured mare stolen from Bromsgrove, Worcs about 6 months ago, I think, and (as far as I know) she's not yet been recovered.

A long shot, I know (with there being so many coloured horses stolen), but I'll try to get in touch with the local Horsewatch rep - she might have more information.

I think the mare's name was Molly, and her owners were obviously devastated - they regularly post appeals for her return.

I would have thought that the 'stallion' could possibly be the piebald colt stolen from Acle in Norfolk, on the same Horsewatch bulletin?

Just found the advert and left a message for the owner of Molly. It's a long shot but you never know - fingers crossed.
