Hi guys, maybe a little off topic (still horsey based, so hopefully not!). 5 to 10 minute presentation. What topic do you pick?

Scenario - I've been offered a job interview and have been told I need to give a presentation. On ANY topic. The job is completely non horsey related, but that's probably where my best knowledge lays. SO, what's presentable, based around horses, and won't bore non-horsey people?

Any ideas? Please!!

Engineering / automotive sector - mainly design work, I believe but they are stressing problem solving skills. No idea how to link anything in - my minds gone blank!!

How about treeless saddles or barefoot trimming or something along those lines. i.e. modern solutions to problems that have various pros and cons. You could give the problem, the solution, the advantages and disadvantages or both traditional and modern method.

The race horse as the pinnacle of athletic design. Watch the Inside Nature's Giants programme where they dissected the racehorse to give you ideas - you could show clips from this to show the strength of the tendons for example or speak about the capacity of the lungs. This would then link your passion for horses with a wish to work in the design industry.

Id look at the horses front legs, their ability to absorb impact, their design, and the strain they are put under.... perhaps contact this lady and see if you could use some pictures in your presentation and bounce a few ideas around with her...

edited to say... 5-10 mins is a very short time, especially when talking about something you are passionate about. I would narrow down whatever topic you use to something very specific... you want to be able to talk about it in enough detail...

You could also (if you chose something like the joints in the front legs) use a picture of a horse coming down the derby bank... that illustrates the flexibility, shock absorbency and strain perfectly :D

The horse in sport - WHY do they co-operate with us? Social animals, like to play, obey the boss horse (rider), like to gallop, is jumping like flying? so they enjoy it, although it has to be taught. Why do they get exciting when they will be working hard and they are naturally lazy. Horses are not ambitious but they seem to go along with what their owner wants.

perhaps leaning towards a design type theme .. comparing a few breeds of horses in relation to their conformation making them suitable for a specific discipline ie TB for racing Shire/Clydsdale for heavy pulling power and Quarter Horse for Western. All of which are horses but have been designed by selective breeding and training for a specialist job.
