Hi all,

My boyo is going out on loan after Christmas. Due mainly to me having confidence issues but I don't want to be away from horses. In the new year I'm going to work on my confidence and ride different horses and also try something new .. I'd always wanted to try riding western and also have a go at driving.

On my death bed I want to be able to tick off my horse related dreams .. rode again after a 19 year break, had a gallop on a beach, ridden a Shire ... Small things but meaning a lot.

What horsey related goals/dreams do you still have and are planning to have a go at in the new year?
 
i have 3 on mine :)

1. Take current pony to the beach - took my last one and never had so much fun!
2. Take him hunting
3. Take him round the forest of dean
 
To hunt in Ireland and to hunt side saddle. On separate occasions, though. I'm afraid if I attempted hunting aside in Ireland, I might kick that proverbial bucket somewhat prematurely.;)
 
Nice topic!

Canter on the beach and have a paddle
Do a hunter trial without having a nervous breakdown so I can enjoy what I do actually love!
Hunt side saddle
I'd love to try something like Mustang Makeover
 
I have this vague dream of doing a BE80 at some point but seeing as I've only ever competed at riding school competitions (in the dim and distant past) and I don't have a horse, this may be difficult :D

More realistically, I'd like to do something on the share horse in 2014. He's done plenty of local riding club shows with his owner and they've been beach riding so perhaps I'll be able to try one of those!

Did this at the start of December and it was an absolute blast. Can thoroughly recommend.

I don't especially have an equine bucket list but if I could hunt say twice a week during the season, that would do me amply.
 
Do a jumping class at a show - any class, any show. Just never seem to get there somehow!
Move up into novice classes for dressage from prelim. I was nearly there earlier this year then illness hit! Maybe 2014??
I probably would have put a beach ride if I hadn't done it already but the reality was a very tense horse who hated it so it wasn't all it was cracked up to be for me! :-(
 
My dream is to find the perfect horse for me and my daughter to share, go to some local shows in the summer and basically have fun! if I can find him/her by my fortieth birthday in May , then even better. Happy Birthday Me! :-)
 
My main one is to go to the beach , have always wanted to go

I would also like to do the Mary Townley Loop over a few days, its nearly 50 miles long :)
 
My main one is to Jump a big hedge out hunting and pray there is a photographer there to capture the moment!

i'd also like to do a long distance ride/hack along the south downs way
 
I seem to be lucky in that I've done a few beach rides.

I'd like to find my next perfect horse and compete in some shows, typical I have a lorry but no horse now.
- sort my confidence issues right out.
 
I don't have my own horse atm so the first thing would be to find a nice horse for my sister and I to share. My dream would be to own my own land and be able to have horses at home. I'd love to compete BE, and the absolute ultimate would be to ride around Badminton Grassroots! Here's hoping!
 
I have a few :)

To get my current lad back in work from injury and compete him in BE ideally to at least novice level (eventually) but right now id just like to be able to ride him... Only 7 more months!!

To take said injured horse out on the hunt field, a blast on the beach that kinda thing (done it all before but not with this one!)

Ooooo actually id love to try horse combat stuff... So a lesson in archery on a horse!

And finally go on a horsey safri through africa!
 
To take my girl out n Boxing Day as its the one meet my dad, mum and maybe boyfriend will come to see us off.... Guess who's counting the sleeps till next week???!!!!

And to go ver a Xc course.... Never ever done it in 23 years of riding, just jumped stupid things out hunting instead.

My main horsey dream since i was a kid hasn't been the Olympics etc but to get a young horse and break it in myself and this year I broke in the girl I got as a yearling :D even tho everyone said she was ugly and wouldn't d anything
 
To jump a Foxhunter class, ideal clear but i will be happy to get round without falling off, throwing up, generally not making a fool of myself!

To jump at Hickstead, been trying for years, finally thought i would make it this year and horse broke, learning very quickly not to make plans!
 
Mine were:

Gallop along the beach - done
Ride an Elementary test - done
Buy my first lorry - done

Still to do:
Ride a Medium test
Do a freestyle to music

And most importantly - Carry on enjoying my lovely old lad!
 
Lots of people wanting to ride on a beach and in the sea. This I've done but my dream of having my own place near to a very large beach has just crashed and burned as the vendor pulled out :(
So maybe this will be the year I pick up the courage to get my Own horse rather than riding other people's .. Problem is I can't decide what I want.
 
Mine are:
Go on a horseback safari
Learn to ride side saddle
Go hunting (just for the thrill of galloping accross country)
To compete in a BE80
Take my current homebred mare to horse camp
To have classical dressage lessons

I could go on and on

To go on a long planned ride from Stratford Upon Avon to the welsh coast - I have almost mapped a possible route
to enter a ODE - even if it is teeny tiny thing at a riding school on my horse for some reason it terrifies me
To get back to jumping 3foot (though 2 6 easily would reasonable too)
To bring my horses training up to elementary level (do able if she stays sound - just need to add a bit more collection and polish the laterals)
 
I'd LOVE to go on a cattle drive in America or Canada. I'm hoping to get to do some travelling within the next couple of years with my best friend and we're going to try and find some ranch work whilst we're over there if we possibly can so hopefully I will get the opportunity to join in!
I'm also another one who would love to ride on the beach abroad someday and take them swimming!
 
My big aims are:
1. Get my top hat and tails with my 14.1hh pony.
2. Have a week training at Talland
3. Go on a Cattle drive in Arizona
4. Go on a horse back Safari
5. Ride a GP Dressage horse
 
I have done my dreams really- competed BE at Chatsworth, Be intermediate, BE 3 day..... Ridden Western, rounded up cows, won a newcomers show jumping, swum in the sea......and many others....
BUT..... Now I have done all of that I realise that my happiest time is when I feel I have nothing to prove. My current horse is the first horse I have had where what we like to do is what I want to do. If we have fun competing we do a bit of that. We love hacking. We play silly games with silly stuff. We ride with or without tack. Whatever we do is great, and doing nothing is great too.
Call it a mid life crisis if you like, but I guess I now just like to spend time with my horse full stop.
