I'm hoping, in the next year or so to buy somewhere with a bit of land. I'm looking somewhere in the East Norfolk / South Lincolnshire/ North Cambridgeshire triangle where I have a hope of affording an acre or two. Does anyone know of any particularly horsey or non-horsey areas to narrow down my search? I'm looking for an area with good hacking (I don't mind a mile or so's road work.) and possibly good for carriage driving.

Recommendations gratefully received, Thanks

my parents live in south lincolnshire - on the coast near Spalding. To be honest the hacking is pretty crap. Everything is totally flat and looks the same so i get board (i live in hertfordshire where the hacking is great!). Also not many of the farmers allow access to their fields and we don't have that many bridle ways so the majority is road work or the sea banks. I went to Bourne or Wittering for competitions - in the summer there are lots of little outdoor grass shows (but manyly for kids- Whaplode, etc). There are some good annual shows (Spalding, Long Sutton, Crowland etc).

Hi I am in Mid Norfolk - Lots of Horse activities taking place. I think there is a driving club herabouts too. I am a member of Carousel riding club - very active club with lots going on. There are several indoor arenas (forest edge near swaffham, ILPH in snetterton and Weston Park near norwich to name but a few) that have activities throughout the winter, two international level xc courses etc etc etc.

Where I am hacking is fab, lots of setaside under the country side stewardship scheme, also the whole of Norfolk is no more than 30 mins from the coast. North Norfolk is v exspensive, however going west towards Kings lynn & N cambridgshire gets a bit cheaper. Downside to Norfolk is that traffic links are not good - I guess thats why it has remained relatively unspoilt. Good luck

Where I am the hacking is non existent. However just six miles away round to the west of Ely the hacking is good. Trouble is prices are 50% higher!
