Took Shannon to vets this morning, she's gone for the week, for laser and ultrasound on her leg and liver biopsy. Vet just rang to say her liver enzymes have raised again and they definatley want to take the biopsy to try and find out whats causing this as all other tests are fine

. I can't beleive how strange it feels not having to go and sort her at night and morning. I'm using the time she is away to paint her stable and give it a good wash out. Fingers crossed again for her please

Thanks everyone she is only 7 and has been 'off colour' since before Christmas and also has an old kick on her leg which is causing her to be lame so she's having a right run of it at the moment bless her! Sammyj there are rats at our yard, as i've seen the odd one but you don't see them very often? Can they be linked with liver problems, i know they do carry alot of germs, but there are 20 other horses on the yard and they are fine

Yes, I'm keeping my fingers crossed. The good thing about livers is that they do recover and, providing not too much damage has been done, horsey can function fine with only a portion of it working. Good luck and happy painting.

Thank you brighteyes, at least we should know exactly what is happening after the scan and biopsy, it is her 'gamma' that is elevated, (think thats right). I try to remeber all the little details the vet tells me, but there is just so much to take in!
