I'm 15 years old and live in the Shetland Isles. I am currently studying for my standard grades in May and am planning on leaving school to pursue a career in horses by the beginning of 2014 when I am 16.

I have been writing to many places over the uk asking if they had any sort of apprenticeships/jobs available and have so far got really positive feedback and a few possibilities. I would be willing to try any sort of thing involving horses as long as I still got the chance to ride. I would also love to be able to get training so I can start to compete at higher and higher levels.

I'm looking for some advice on what's available out there and what I should look for in a good yard. Should I be looking for a job, apprenticeship or something completely different? Know anywhere that might be willing to take me on at there yard? please let me know I would really appreciate any advice

Lots of working pupil positions available. These can be in riding schools or competition yards. Some of the top riders take working pupils especially the eventers.
