Hi all,

I am planning to travel to the enfield area this September in order to do my masters. I was wondering what, if any, horsey communite exists around there and a bit further afield. I would hope to continue riding, either gaining some part-time employment and/or posssibly bringing a horse or two over? I would love to hear from anyone who is in the know or has any ideas of websites/links where I could learn a bit more about equestrian activities in teh area. Thanks

You may find that your university will have a Riding Club which you could join and get involved with.

Might be worth googling the University name and then riding club - see what comes up as some of them have their own websites

I have ridden at a stables near there called Trent Park Equestrian Centre - which is very big... might be a good place to start

Enfield is not that far from epping forest, where there is a glut of livery stables and excellent hacking and quite a few competition venues..... then you also have trent park, lea valley, patchetts and norton heath a short drive away.

I live in Watford and do some freelance teaching around the area, I go down to Frith Manor, and there are quite a few establishments round there. I used to have my horses in the Borehamwood/Shenley area and there are also loads of places round there. Will you have a car? PM me if you want names of places/people etc....

Thanks for the responses so far.

The university doesn't seem to have any riding club of it's own so that isn't a runner unfortunately but will look up the links provided here. I can have my own car if necessary and obviously if I bring a horse(s) I will have a jeep and box. Thanks Tigers_eye, may PM you.
