You know when people make comments about your horse which just make you GLOW and BEAM as if the whole world has become a shiny beautiful place?

After my family having problems with my horsey for the first few months I went away, I've had so many positive reports & am amazed at the change

"she is SO obedient. Quite Remarkable."

She was a perfect angel when I went back at easter for the whole time I was there so perhaps all it took was showing what a lamb she is if you're not frightened of her - amazing how psychology changes the way horses behave, eh?

Finally they see what I see!

my old loan pony was a barsteward for running out at jumps and poking his nose out like a giraffe instead of in a outline. I worked like mad on his flatwork and entered our last dressage show before he was sold. The owner of the RS/Yard was judging and she wrote in the comments section (her writing not the writers):
'Different pony to when he was first here, come on in leaps and bounds and you should be very proud of yourself he's a superstar.' I framed that test.

Also when we had the international uni competitions all the instructors rode the horses from our yard that were competing to warm them up and the YM said that I was to ride my pony as 'nobody else makes him look even half decent round a course' my instructor hated riding him as he often ran out, but that comment made me feel all fuzzy inside!

this sounds a bit self centered, i miss my little ginger pony dreadfully once youknew how to ride him properly he got a lot of confidence from you and would go really nicely

On my beautiful arab, comment from an instructor....

'You look as though you were born to ride this horse, and he was born for you to ride him'.

We must have been having a good day!!

Last time I had a XC lesson, my instructor hadn't seen Robbie for about 6 months, and she was saying how much he'd improved, how well he looked etc.
Then she nearly made me cry by telling me how lucky she thought he was to have me as an owner.

In my opinion, not nearly as lucky as I am to have him as my horse

Eric Smiley once described my horse as "the horse all of us would like to take home"

And the rather high-powered dressage trainer who told me I had a "fantastic lower leg position"

(trust me, it's about the only bit of me that's anywhere near where it should be on a horse

"Lovely little mare with lots to like about her" - do you know I think that is one of the only times that someone has actually complimented my horse and meant it in real life?

[/ QUOTE ]

Oi, I've complimented her!

Two people have stopped in their car and wound down their windows and told me how handsome he is
blush.gif
bless him, so proud.....

On a negative note though, was hacking with a friend years ago and a guy shouted out we should take them to the knackers yard

Was furious but then I think he was a do-as-you-likey

On my last dressage sheet the judge wrote at the bottom 'if this lovely horse can show a little more bend you will both earn the higher marks you so deserve' - I nearly cried!

i quite often get "what a lovely boy" from dog walkers who probably then wonder why i glare at them.

My RI said "I wish more of my clients were like you and bought the horse that was suited to their riding rather than the horse they think they can ride." Felt quite fuzzy but then wasn't sure if it was a complement or not.

First time I hacked Rosie out in the village (having owned her only 3 weeks) a little boy asked me to tell his mum that he wanted a MAHOOOOOSIVE TEDDY like I had for christmas!!!!) Loads of people stopped me in the streets so they could have a cuddle and ask what Rosie was! lol One lady asked if she was actually a horse??? hehehe! After about 3 months several people came out the local pub and complimented how well Rosie looked now she had put on some weight. She is so BIG that she gets attention where ever she goes which makes me very proud to be her owner!

Had a few, and they all make me feel good!

Hacked Genie to a local livery yard to do their in-house dressage and got a few comments from people about how good she was looking.

Recently at a local show she won Best Condition with my sharer, which I felt to be a huge compliment to me. :-D

One that made me giggle was a dressage comment saying 'well ridden despite the horse taking you like a train'. Not necessarily the best comment but she had been a complete and utter tank with me, so the well ridden meant a lot!

"God, he's looking grand!" (former YM who hadn't seen Dylan in months, as I came back from a hack)
"I'd love to sit on a horse the way you sit on a horse ... you just don't move" (woman on a hack that our old head groom was taking - I'd gone on Dylan as rear file, and she said this as he was pogoing about with all 4 legs in the air lol)

And my personal favourite - "You can tell he's a horse that's really loved"

after he was used as a guinea pig for 5 trainees to do basic health checks on

The one that springs to mind for me actually happened on HHO, quite a while back mind you - AmyMay commented on one of my photos (of Ellie lounging in a thick bed of straw
tongue.gif
) that if she had to board her horse with anyone, it would be me
smile.gif
That really chuffed me up, and I've never forgotten it
