Hi any ideas on what my 22year old welsh d may have done to herself? Saw her at 1.30 happy as larry and trotting up to me in the field for her lunch. She was brought in 3 hours later very lame on her near fore. By the time I got there after work she was not lame in walk but slightly lame in trot, otherwise happy. Her hoof and coronet band and sole are perceptibly warmer than the other. Vet recommended to contact them again in the morning if she is still lame. Any ideas? Thanks

I would probably treat as laminitis and hope for an abscess. And follow the vets advice.

Fingers crossed its nothing serious.

My worry was laminitis too although not possibly related to feed as we have no grass (only just stopped snowing!)and she lives on hay and lo-cal. Vet said probably wouldn't just be in one foot or got any better it it was laminitis. My worry is it may be a sign of cushings...:(

She might have just knocked herself, overreached, bruised her sole or something straightforward like that. It could be an abscess starting. I would take it as a positive that she was sound again in walk by the time you got there. Fingers crossed for you that she's fine again in the morning :)

It's often only in one foot.
