I am a beautiful blue lurcher in search of wife who would like to have my babies. I am strong, fast, and very affectionate. I am told it would be a waste for there to be no more of me. Any ideas gratefully recieved...
You are onto a loser asking on here I'm afraid - no-one on here would support random breeding, however stunning your dog? I was in the same position, had an absolutely gorgeous lurcher but never used him at stud... there are enough unwanted lurchers/mongrels/crosses out there without me adding to them
Sorry, I am trying not to appear rude, hopefully someone else can say this more diplomatically than me!

Yes but why bother, you said it so well
I'd rather see 100 lurchers bred than 10 'pedigrees' but particularly in this current climate when rescue centres are full to bursting you'll get little support here.I have 4 lurchers and they were all abandoned but bred by well meaning people like you I'm sure
I do understand as I had a stunning lurcher that I would have loved to have bred from and of course there will always be lurchers bred outside the usual pedigree dog breeding circles but most people on here are more concerned with overpopulation.
apologies if I have offended anyone.
In no way am I after random breeding or looking to overpopulate with unwanted puppies. I already have a list of people who would want his offspring which is why I am so keen to find a suitable bitch. I care my dogs and horses as much as the next pesron and as an owner of a 3 legged dog from a rescue home am more than aware of the perils of unwanted lurchers.
Sadly I can understand where Acolyte is coming from, (looks sideways at the 3 rescue lurchers on her sofa). Your boy sounds lovely but here's an idea, how about suggesting to your friends instead you breeding some pups and them taking them on, how about they each take on a rescue lurcher. Have a look at www.lurcher.org.uk, they nearly always have puppies in!

That's a fab idea
I love my rescue dogs and TBH couldn't be bothered with all that puppy stuff, cute as they are.

Certainly is a fab idea re the lurcher link
, I have an abundance of stunning, and very young lurchers, some very stunning shaggy ones, we as a rescue have about 10 in altogether, there are thousands of lurchers out there, If u do breed, please make sure between u and the owner of the bitch, u offer these puppies, which will grow into adults a life long back up, to stop rescues like us, who did not breed from them in the first place, having to take them in, adding to the 50+ we have now
I appreciate you would like one of your own - hey, why I am I planning on breeding from my mare this year - but when I decided to get a lurcher a few years ago I phoned a few rescues and all were bursting at the seams with them.
I read on a rescue forum today that in trying to locate the owner of an adult stray lurcher, the rescue centre traced all his siblings too and found that 6 out of 8 in the litter had been through the rescue system
