How do I make a simply hot water wash (ie shower) for my horses?

I dont want to pay through the roof, was thinking of a normal human shower but how would I convert it to use on my horses?

Good question. Sorry I have no answers but I shall watch replies with interest.
I'm particularly after something that can hose down wet muddy, arthritic legs when bringing in for the evening.

I'd say get a local plumber to come and take a look for you with a view to installing an electric shower i.e. one that heats the water on demand so you don't need a hot water cyliner & emersion, then just fit an extended shower hose / boom with appropriate head.

Shouldn't be too difficult.

I bought a Mira Sports shower (as I had one in the house and knew it was 'decent'.) My plumber installed it in the wash box with normal head - but an extended hose. It works very well! Instant hot water and enough pressure to wash dirty grey horses! You DO need to be careful to either drain the unit completely or insulate it well in winter - if there's water in the unit and it freezes, you'll need a new unit!!

You'll need an electrician and a plumber to install it safely - which will add at least £100 to the price of the shower.

What circuit do you run it off? You need a hefty amps for a shower. We've got bog standard 13 amps to our outbuildings and the OH who is very qualified in these matters says you need a cooker socket rating as showers can draw up to 10KW and it would surely blow your normal sockets off the wall.

i have a 8.5 kw electric shower installed inside the toilet on the yard, hose has been drilled through the wall with hosepipe attached. works really well for a warm/hot wash. i use mine for washing horses off after hunting or hard sweaty work. i dont wash legs off when bringing in from the fields. the mud fairies clean them in the night, all have big full beds! after washing off under the shower they are put under the infra red lights for 20 mins to dry off.

Oh LORD yes - that's why you need an electrician - and decent electrics to start with! My yard has its own electricity supply - and the wash-box is only about 60' from the main meter/supply/fuse box etc. It has a dedicated supply, waterproof 'cooker' style switch OUTSIDE the wash box - the works. Running it off a normal socket would risk you burning your stables down - or electrocuting yourself -at worst - and blowing every trip switch you own, at best!

There is a portable shower on the market, reasonable price. Sold by a company called Ezall UK Ltd.
Just attach it to an LPG bottle hang it on a nail and away you go. Instant hot water with temperature & pressure control. I use it and it works fine.
Don't have the water too hot, it can open the pours in the animals skin, nice kind of baby warm is great.
