Hound Couples

Hi my husband has just started doing some whipping in and has bought himself a set of hound couples so he can catch and lead any stray hounds.

Does anyone know how they are attached to the saddle as I am at a loss and there is no obvious clip?

Is there a centre 'circular' link on the couple? If so, maybe a spring loaded clip e.g. like the ones on some horse rugs is the answer, then clip on to any ring on the saddle???

There should be a small leather strap attached to the couples by which you attach it to your saddle behind the seat. The couple straps are rolled up and threaded through themselves to keep secure. For me they are just something else to clean and brasso!!!
