My SIL has just acquired a Pharaoh Hound bitch puppy, it's very thin and sorry looking. She's had her to the vet for vaccs etc., does anyone have experience of these dogs and could give some advice on feeding, training , character etc please?

Any problems I would have thought you could have contacted his breeder, most responsible breeders send their puppies out with puppy food and a diet sheet as well as lots of info.

I would try to get your puppy on to a good food like fish4puppies or orijen but would stagger it in with the food he is now on so as not to upset his tummy.

I would also imagine your vet has wormed him which would have been my first thought as you say he is skinny.

I have no experience with Pharoah Hounds but they are beautiful and if I was going to buy a puppy would have researched the breed thoroughly to make sure it was the breed for me.
http://www.pharaohhoundclub.co.uk/ This is a link to a club which carries lots of info and a contact number for any help you may need.

One other thing it is usual on this forum that anyone with a puppy has to post a photo so we can all admire and coo over.:)

The puppy has not come from it's breeder, and it's not my puppy so I can't post pictures :(
She is apparently poor as previous owner was ill and no-one looked after pup properly. My sister-in-law was going to man she got her from to get her registration papers, I have told her to contact the breeder to let them know pup has been re-homed and to get advice, but I don't know if she managed to get them.
Pup was wormed on Thursday. I completely agree that research is needed before getting a dog (or any animal) but I have to say I couldn't have walked by this dog and left it where it was.

Having rescues of my own I understand, the food I have recommended is what we put our puppy on and she thrived on it. Once they have a knock back like that it always takes longer to bring them back on track but as I said the food I recommended is excellent .
