hound pups and sexual maturity!

Not having walked puppies before, can anyone tell me when hound puppies reach sexual maturity?
My 2 are reaching 6 mnths, and watching them playing today, was not sure if the dog was making half hearted attempts to mount his sister!!! Do you think they should be separated just in case, as will be going back to the kennels in the next few weeks anyhow.

They can start young!

Check the bitches rear end to see if it is swollen. If in doubt give the kennels a ring as the last thing you need is an unwanted mating!
If in doubt keep them split. We had a walke send some dog pups back when they came in season & she kept the bitch pups for a little longer till they were out of season.
