Any recommendations for reputable house insurance company that will give reasonable quote for business cover for house in event of small scale dog boarding / dog day care. So far quotes have made a small scale business idea, and one that is popular with potential clients, seem impossible to implement. I've tried NFU ! Wesleyan and some others. All add several hundred pounds to regular insurance , as regarded as a business run from house and therefore house at risk of theft / damage, even though I know my clients and dogs well. The licensing fee with local council i could justify , but house insurance made it impossible.
Ideas welcome, thank you.

I tried Cliverton and have my pet business insurance through them but the quote on the house side was still double what we pay for normal insurance for house. I think it was Them that said it was due to part of the house being built in stone. Insurances seemed based on blanket policy for business run from home. Small scale, as I want if a few dogs a year that can run with our family in the home didn't seem catered for. I think a lot of people don't bother with the house insurance business side. I've tried to set up looking at everything possible.

You're not insuring the house, your insuring you and your business. I think I pay about £130 a year. This covers home boarders, pet taxi, dog walking, pet visits, vetinary treatment liability - just as a starters.

If you insure your property as a business then yes your house insurance will increase a lot.

When I got my insurance from Cliverton for my pet business, ie dog walking small holding holiday cover, small pet care . There was a large print piece of paper in with the paperwork to say, make sure you inform your house insurer that you plan to do home boarding of pets. I duly did this. That is when my house insurance quote became so high, it wasn't worth doing home pet boarding, only the going out to people's homes.
