Hmmmm, I never come across this one in all my years, so.......

Rescue greyhound has settled in really well, and has always been very clean in the house - she had one accident, my fault as I hadnt realised she gets too excited when I get home to concentrate on going out into the garden and doing her stuff!

But just lately on 3 occasions she has peed on the kitchen floor after eating her breakfast or tea - the latest time was tonight, she had come back from a 2 hour walk on the Malvern Hills, so I let them cool down a bit then fed them...walked off to do something....came back and she had peed on the floor - just next to the open back door

I will do the obvious things - either stand and watch her while she eats then put her out in the garden, or feed her outside, but it seems to be a habit thing - so I wondered if anyone else had this???

If she's been good up until recently, could it be a urine infection - I know dogs can get cystitis so she may just have to go if it's painful. Would it be worth having urine tested?

I was thinking that too TBH - she goes a lot on walks, almost like when a dog will go along cocking his leg everywhere? Might give her a day or two and then think about the vet - I've only had her 3 weeks or so, it is difficult to assess what is 'normal' for her.

I saw a couple walking the course at an event recently who had a labrador bitch which was peeing every few strides, patently obviously had an infection - they were just ignoring it

Not always a sign of infection. My old girl will be constantly when out for a walk but is just marking her terretory. I know this as she will have a long needed pee then when she sees my young dog go she will go there & then pee on top of it. So where ever any other dog has peed she has to too!
Where as my young dog will only pee where she knows (not good esecially when away for the day) but is getting better.

Hope you sort your girl out soon or she settles herself down.

Thank you

I just need to remember she is new to living in a house, and be a bit more aware of this I think

At the moment it is like living with Tigger.... I keep telling myself 'six months and she will be settled'

My dogs do this.....and it happens to be my whippet and my whippetxgreyhound...it's not uncommon for a dog to want to toilet immediatley after food....I always leave my back door open when feeding so they can go straight out...and they do...surely enough as soon as they have eaten the last morsel of food

One of the rescues I currently have in also does it, I just have to remember to leave doors open as feeding proceeds

either that or I feed them outside on the patio, so they can squat where they stand

Well I am glad it isnt just my greyhound which does it

I think the thing which racked me off is that the back door was open (as always) so she could have gone straight out

I think she might start getting fed on the patio if I cannot be around to watch over her as she eats

My greyhound sometimes did a similar thing, weeing on return from a long walk, but what I put it down to was her having a big drink when we got back, then needing a wee soon after.
