It says they were crossing cable covers so I wonder if the horse did a cat leap. There was an article last week saying many of the riders were new to ceremonies and had missed riding lessons due to covid so fingers crossed for this weekend!

Did you see the speculation William's horse was doped? It did look v quiet but I just assumed they didn't want the heir to the throne getting splatted

Do hope he's OK ?

I do feel for them as it's bad enough when you fall off anyway let alone to have it plastered over the news.

Looking at the photos from the other day it struck me how tiny their stirrups are, and how likely it would be to get a foot stuck if anything did go a bit wrong.

I think William is a pretty competent horseman too and would be very familiar with the ceremonial tasks so I can't imagine a particularly dopey horse was needed; just a reasonably sensible one!

That's what I thought. I assumed they'd chosen a horse that knew it's job inside out

I believe, from an insider, that historically the horses ridden by the royals for that parade don't get much sleep the night before.

It didn't look drugged to me, no 5th leg, but it did look tired!

There will always be some new to ceremonies - that article was full of so much misinformation. It's nothing new. Hope the Trooper is ok, I woudn't want to fall off in full kit onto tarmac.

As for William's horse - they start prep about 0400 for a 1100 start time, I know a lot of horses that would be tired after that amount of time!
