following on from my last thread - How adjustable exactly are Albion saddles.

Mine is a medium/wide - but my mare is a lot wider than that.

People on the other thread said the tree suits flat backed horses so would this help with adjusting it for her if it could be?

Will be in touch with my saddler but just wondered how adjustable they where. It's an SLK and I love it.

unless you get a saddle with a changeable gullet there is not really anything you can do about it, if it is too narrow it is too narrow-'spreading' the gullet just runs the risk of weakening it. sounds like you need a different saddle

You can get the tree narrowed or widened quite easily but you don't want to do it too often. I have had saddles widened before by sending them back to the manufacturer. Not sure how much wider you can make them though and it doesn't mean that the saddle will def. fit the horse just because its been widened!!

assuming standard tree you are a) limited how much it will be able to be widened (more than a size difference is not going to happen), and you also wouldn't want to adjust it much again. My ideal was recently adjusted to template by my saddler but not by a huge amount and is it's first ever adjustment.

Albion can't have there trees changed unless you send it back to them. Unlike most saddles, saddlers won't touch them. Think you will have to get a different saddle.

I think you would have to send it back to the manufacturer anyway. I have sent one back to Ideal and one to Symonds and both were widened and it cost me about £150 both times. My saddler spoke to the manufacturer, sent them the templates she had taken and they widened the saddles as required. Very painless thing to do!!

I think it depends how old it is. I bought a new one last year for my youngster and my saddler told me it is fully adjustable, although the older ones weren't.

I think that's the Genesis version specifically? I would agree that Albion trees aren't as easly adjusted (small amounts and only a handful of times) as something like an Ideal, definitely send back to the maker. The K2 is flatter than their other trees but not truly flat, also has long points. No idea of the rails. All these things affect how well it may (not) fit a truly wide flatter backed horse.
