I have a very cute (but cheeky) 12.2 pony who my god daughter has been riding. she's great-bit cheeky but safe and can do a bit of everything. I am REALLY struggling to sell her and really don't know what to do-recently she has started to itch (never had and don't think it is sweetitch) and also looks a tiny bit odd behind-not crippled or even lame-just stiff. This of course is putting people off. How do people sell these kind of ponies? She has been advertised for £1500 ono however this is now £1200. She really is a sweetie and I dont want to send her to some horrible home! Do riding schools buy or generally just loan! Please help!!!!!

She is up for about 3 times her value I'm afraid

Our RS is looking at the moment! but any horse they buy MUST be sound, as the costs involved with having 35+ horses is so high! However if she lunges and is well behaved then they would consider having her but for more like £800

thats fair enough about the price. I think i was being very optimistic!

I will reduce it big time but still don;t know where i could sell her for a VERY quick sale!?

Agree... first check out that she is ok.
Then if she is forward going type, but unsuitable for tiny kids, have a think about advertising her as mounted games material. The MGA have very strcit rules about weight/height of riders on ponies but generally these ponies are ridden by slightly larger, but also more experienced jockeys. Going rate for untrained 12.2 for games .... £ 500 I am afraid...

Sorry but the price sounds incredibly high for what she is.
The itching could be the start of sweetitch and if she's stiff behind she won't cope with work in a riding school.
I would drop your price to around £850 and try her on a joint supplement such as Multiplex HA from Science with Nature or any glucosophimine type additive.
She may then become sound again and it will just be old age doing it.
I'm about to advertise a 15.2 hh competition horse for the fourth time, it's not expensive but not an easy ride; anything with any sort of complication like that is realy hard to sell, but just keep advertising.
try the Pony Club site..

Phew!!! i sold her for £1500!.
The people just wanted a SAFE pony for their daughter and thats what she is ( she can also a pop a very decent sized fence for the older daughter!!). Wasn't sweet itch-just a bit itchy and her funny action wasn't classed as lame-just her. i must admit i was very lucky as like you all said you can pick a pony up like that for £500-they were thrilled to bits with her though.
