well iv had grace coming up a month now and she has lost alot of weight, but she has lost it all off her neck and bum but still has a rather large tummy but i think thats just toning with more work she does! when the vet did her teeth he said she would have been borderline if she was left the way she was. she was on a bare paddock and just having one feed a day to keep her gut moving, and every other night they are aloud on a paddock behind which has more grass in it but she keeps escaping onto the lush grass so she has been on the shorth grass for 2nite, shes escaping through everything the little madam, well this is her 2day.

now prince im not to sure about, hes been of work for over 2 months now with hind lameness and has had one nerve block in his sacroliac that showed nothing up so was due to have more down the leg then bone scans at horspital if nothing showed, the vet has been out twice now to do them and the first time he pulled a shoe off that foot so was footy and the 2nd time him and grace kicked eachother, he took a chunk out of her leg and she hasnt got shoes so didnt mark him but 4 yr old scar tissue on his other hind leg burst open making him lame on that leg. is ongoing! and nearly 2 weeks on its still only just healing but he is soooo stiff behind i really feel for him! the vet said he was getting abit to fat which was fair enough being off work so he went on the bare paddock with grace, but over the last week he has all of a sudden dropped! i could see a few ribs at the top but then this massive tummy underneath so im not really sure wether to give him abit extra or just leave him as he is which is on bare at day and longer grass at night. what do you think,

the lump on the front of his hind is the scar tissue wound.

Firstly, she looks fantastic, well done! Mares do tend to carry tummy weight - mine looks ridiculous. She can't be exercised in any way, and is only used as a companion now, so consequently she looks fine everywhere, and then you see the enormous tummy...

I wouldn't want him to drop any more, but he looks fine for someone who has been out of work. My old lad has been out of work for nearly 3 months with a string of injuries, and has lost all his topline. They do drop when they're out of work - don't worry, just up the fibre a little bit!

shes on a sprinkle of hoof kind chaff and lots of carrots as she eats like lightning! hes using up the last of the hifi apple and iv been giving him a little sprinkle of the conditioning cubes that iv got left over, will put him back on the balancer though i think. maybe something like bailys local as hes out of work, hes usually on solid gold which is now pure feeds i think. i couldnt decide with him because he does have a big tummy just looks like hes pregnant how hes dropped. but do you know, looking at him today i thought he actually looked old. (hes 12) i thinks hes just getting tired of all this now. iv started giving him some flax oil to see if it will ease the stiffness untill these nerve blocks are done, if they dont happen soon i will get more danilon off the vet to make him more comfortable, just want to get this ball rolling again!
