How are those of you in the North this eve?

No horse at moment but a tad battered this evening in west lancs and we got of light. cumbria where we have boat had gusts to 80 mph winds eekkkk. Hope everyone safe

Well, I'm not especially north but it was a bit mental this morning! All pretty calm now though, barely a breeze (very weird). I didn't do the horses today but seemingly they couldn't have cared less! :)

Fine here but my parents live on the coast and their street flooded with the tide during the day worse surge due later tonight the house will be fine as its up on a hill above the street .
As ever they won't answer the phone that's normal but I wish they would.

Oh goldenstar have been flooded twice in old home and its awful. i hope your parents are ok. i feel for all who experience it as its truelly awful. first time so much was taken. x

Have a loose bit of roof on my stables thats making a helluva racket if theres even a wee gust of wind so my guys are out tonight as its not being repaired till tomorrow morning, and its bloomin freezing already as im just back from putting out loads of piles of haylage for them. Hopefully the storm surge wont come over the side of Forth

The weather is awful - it's sleating/snowing/hail stoning and extremely windy. A few trees have blown down in the park and some lorries have crashed on the nearby motorway. The horses stayed in today and where glad of it! It was a nightmare getting home from uni, every single train was either delayed or cancelled!

It must be awful babymare
I can remember being with my mum when I was little when she helped a lady along the street when her basement flat flooded I can just remember the lady clutching some kids clothes and crying.
Mum and Dad will be fine though as their house is well set back from the street and built up the hill to get the view.
I just wish they would answer the phone not answering mobile either .
They don't answer phones but you would they would guess us kids want to hear they are ok and the neibours would ring me If there was an issue.

Mmmmm parents goldenstar? Worse than children as dont wont to worry you lol my mother was same. first time was middle of night. woke to hammering on wall . went down step in 4ft water and switch light on!!!!! £12k damage .2nd time more prepared. and we live half way up huge hill to moors but land drains blocked and moors saturated so our house was the way the water went!.but its the personal things you cant get back. photos. school certificates etc :( really hope they ok hun x

They will be just not thinking .
I grew up in the village so loads of people would ring me if there was an issue.

Okay where I am. Did relent and go and get the horse in as normally he would be stalking the fenceline to come in out of the wind and driving hail (so I find him happily munching away *sigh*). It was a bit like being on the set of the day after tomorrow at one point and reminded me of being in the states with a tornado on it way. I think the weather got to Crewe and decided to just throw any form of sky wee at us - hail, snow, rain, crispy rain, the lot including random bits of tree and buildings!!

Friends in Norfolk have been evacuated, and others having to make arrangements to move in the middle of the night if necessary. Local transporters have been having to move horses out of the area to temporary fields etc :(

Parents, eh?! I'm sure that they will be fine, as you say the neighbours would let you know if anything was amiss.

I got the local police to check mine once, after a day of unanswered calls (250 miles away). They were fine but I still got a royal telling off from them! (The police were great about it, it was just my parents who kicked off!). At least they always answered their phone after that.

This morning was pretty rough, a big surge with high tide caused a few problems around here. But now it is calm, quiet and clear skies!

Barely windy now here in n yorks but this morning was awful could barely stand up stables are all fine havent looked at the fencing yet though.

Mmm the police that's the necular option perhaps I talk my SIL into it so I don't get the blame but that would teach them to answer the phone .

Just back in from running repairs on he blown down fence and although the wind has dropped considerably, feeling absolutely battered by it. Horses all fine but two of them arguing through he'windows' and kicking the walls because they've been in all day.

I brought horses in at 6am this morning - they were both upset, but Ozzie let me throw a rope round his neck and Dom trotted in behind him and they both concentrated on hay as normal once inside.
I had a hair raising drive to work, single track roads blocked, and a tree falling in front of me.
This evening is still, starry, snowy and peaceful.
