Ive just taken my baby horse, 5yrs , to his first proper show today. We have done a few dressage shows but nothing else. I have not been to a show for quite a few years so taking a baby to his first show was quite an event. Only when you take a baby do you realise quite how much they have to cope with. So much happening, lots of horses, dogs, people, etc. I was very proud of my boy today. he was very well behaved in such an exciting environment. He was a bit gob smacked by the tiny ponies, he didn't know they came in that size, or the tiny human riders, some of them in fancy dress too! The umbrellas were a bit of an issue when it started raining but I got off and stood with him to look at them. We did our first dressage test on grass, a bit wobbly without fences or walls but we won our class. We had a couple of fences down in the jumping but was very pleased that he went into the arena and was happy to go round the jumps. To be fair they were a bit small for him so he didnt really try to jump them hense couple of poles down. Ridden class he was so well behaved and stood quietly in line with the others and did his show nicely and came out with a third place. All in all very pleased, a lot to take in. Very tired horsey now so def day off tomorrow. How did you get on ?
