So far I have been on hound exercise, been out with the stag hounds and the new mink hunting season starts at the end of the month. No need for anyone dedicated to venary to be bored during the summer!

Horse is turned out, have been to some p2p's, groomed at some event shows and now looking forward to do some shows with a trade stand, have actually been fairly busy, and alltho I miss the hunting I dont really miss the riding yet, (and I was going to event my mare) but I do feel that mine really deserved a holiday. I have always hunted Thursdays as well, so I now Thursdays and Saturday's with no hunting, also hunted some Tuesday's, so it does feel rather strange!!

Spending time with much neglected husband and children, and playing with ponies. And with the extra 10 or 15 hours during the week when I was riding, cleaning, plaiting etc I am trying to do some work and tackling the mountain of domestic chores which get ignored over the winter.

Organising hunt fundraisers, doing hunt paperwork that got ignored over the winter and breaking my new hunter for next season!

I do wonder once we're not hunting how I ever find time to hunt......

Ok i am very jealous.. you are lucky to live in a part of the country you can do this !

I'm not sure that Cambridgeshire has ever been considered a hunting mecca, I do put in a bit of mileage to get some sport after our own season closes and it is always worth it. I have made friends for life on my travels.

Always worth asking around for details of your local mink hound pack, there are lots of us about quietly getting on with our summer sport and are always happy to welcome new followers.

Failing that get involved with summer hunt events to keep you out of mischief.

Sorry to be a grumpy old man, but I was temporarily baffled by the English ... 'know' should be 'NOW' and 'venary' should be 'VENERY'. Am I being picky..?

Showjumping! Although it's amazing how after a break from it 85cm suddenly seems big on new one after pinging 1.05 not so long ago on my semi-retired oldie! Out hunting we didn't bat an eyelash at anything (nothing to do with damson vodka im sure :D )

Horse hunting, looking for something new to replace my lad who needs a quieter life! So far I've seen a 15.2hh that turned out to be 17hh when I arrived, one that wasn't even sound, something nuts, and a really nice little mare that I will hopefully go back and take a 2nd look at.

Will then I will catch up on some paperwork and more to the point catch up with my non hunting friends who get neglected over the winter months!!

Can't really class myself as a hunter as I am only a casual attendee. But I like to wander into this forum now and again as I do love a good bout o'hunting and xc :)

Like chestnut cob I have been horse shopping but had a little more luck than you did (if trial period works out).

And I should be doing like olderthanshelooks is, and catching up with friends (and OH) who are always sadly neglected, however, the above means this aint happening any time soon !! Oops.

Is buying a second horse grounds for divorce dya think?

Hunter is out and enjoying his summer off after a heavy season, particuarly for an 18 year old- think we only missed 3 Saturdays! he is currently plastered in mud as is well and truly ruffed off! Getting fat and loving being a bog pony!

The up and coming hunter (baby pony) will spend the summer eventing and will start his hunting career later this year! :D

Saturdays are now occupied by work as I get in a bad mood if i'm not hunting! I think its called an obsession! My horse knocked himself this season so as not to miss a day I got a hireling... I'm only 18 as well! This is the start of something awful! Have planned my gap year job so that I can hunt the whole season 2/3 times a week too! Oh dear....

Horses turned out for their summer holidays. So spending spare time undertaking a little extreme gardening and poking at various piles of things in the house that have built up over the winter with a long stick as I am really afraid to investigate further .....;)

Horse still doing some hacking, dressage and hunt rides. Watching hounds at shows and catching up with Long Suffering Husband.
