Hmm. I thought mine started looking a little light and 'ribby' about 2 weeks ago so started with the hard feed again and swapped grazing.

Now. I'm not so sure!!! He looks a little bit preggers bless him.

he could look better, but with navicular, kissing spines and bone spavins in both hocks, 5 days in horspital and 5 months off work he could look worse.

Glad I'm not the only one with one looking a bit portly!!

China - He doesn't look too bad considering! He's got a gorgious head on him :)

But the fatter they are going into the winter the better as far as i'm concerned, when it comes to our TB friends. :)

The winter comment is my thinking too.....after the winter we had last year, I'm making him stock up reserves!!! lol.
 
Yep....pile it on now and then relax a litte in the winter, rather be counting fat rolls now than ribs in three months.

Bug is having the winter off as she is only three so hopefully that'll help her this winter, as she is still growing.

We are really lucky to have about 300 hundred acres that we can use if we need too. On a cattle farm so no shortage of grass even when we have had a bad summer. We have managed on 4 though!!!!:D
 
My TB mare wasn't looking too great a fortnight ago so i have upped her feed & she is looking much better.
I really want her looking a bit better before the winter sets in & if last years winter is anything to go by then i need her looking a bit more porky.

Sleeps is Looking just about right which has amazed me as he's the worst doer in history. Must be all those badminton foods treats he is spoilt with every other minute of the day.. :D

Either that or the field full of grass.
 
My two are looking good, older one is carry a little extra as she has had the summer off, my lightweight TB is covered, but she never gets a belly, but looks good. I like them to go into winter slightly round, or atleast covered.........
 
my girl is looking very good. (do have to feed a fair bit, oil etc!)

she is also super fit at moment more then ready for our 3 day next week.

agree gotta love the TB's.:)
 
Mine was looking about perfect last week but at the weekend moved her to a new field with lots of lovely grass and she is looking how I would want her at this time of year going into winter - a little bit round!
 
My TB is looking (and feeling) fab for the first time since i have had her :)
This is her a few days ago after being sponged down after a sweaty hack :)

All you lucky people with fat TBs... Mine was in racing condition when I got him & is now looking *slightly* more normal, but he just won't put on any more. Good appetite, & I've now started a third feed per day, so fingers crossed...

I feel your pain! mine has only looked like the above since this summer......all last winter despite endless feeds and hay she looked like a ribby rake!

Not the best of pics - he was out munching the grass down round the yard while I poo-picked last week. I'm happy with him looking like this on the way into autumn as he usually drops a little over winter.
 
Looking very fat and she s put on 50 kilos since last winter, this photo was taken in may, she lives out 24/7 and feed a bit of chaff and pink powders when she works.

He is looking good although a bit on the porky side. We have stripped grazed him this summer as he and my yearling were getting rather plump!
