RIP Horseys

The only good thing though, is that the horses would have died absolutely instantly and would have felt nothing.

Really reallly sad, Team Hollings lost 2 this week as well struck by lightning, kids show ponies, one of them - Pebbly Pepperpot was very well known. We had thunderstorms here last night and couldn't get back to sleep for worrying about my horses after reading about it. Just one of those awful freak accidents.

Re post above - was actually Templetons who lost the 2 ponies - mistake due to very moreish bottle of Sauvignon Blanc last night!

Another 2 horses here were struck by lightning and killed a couple of days ago. The lightning storms have been hellish here over the past couple of weeks. We had another huge one today, so you guys watch out, it could be across the Atlantic by tomorrow or the next day - hope it blows itself out before then as wouldn't wish it on you. After experiencing 3 direct hits to our property earlier this week, I'll tell you it is pretty scary, particularly when you are watching it strike your gates and shelters where lots of your horses are huddled together pooping their pants.

Im sad for the owners But; If i hear theres a storm coming Or hear thunder, My horses are in. Ive been out at 3am in my jim jams getting ours in.
I see more have been killed from showing yards.

RIP Brave Horses.

I'm always torn, never lost one out, nor has anyone I know, but if you bring them in what if it hits the building and you have a fire?

Saw the owners sister on Saturday, they are absolutely devastated to lose them, especially as one was her 4th generation and irreplaceable. So sad, and they are such lovely people. The kids are gutted.

In future mine are in at the first sniff of a storm.
