I'm the first to admit I'm not great with my jumping length stirrups but 5 is pretty bad!!!

Must i be really pants??

Dont worry, 5 is about average. I usually get 6 or 7 but on one test I gave the judge a huge smile at the begining then one at the end and said thank you on the way out and got a 9!! I think it really does depend on the judge.

I usually get a 6, sometimes a 7 if Im lucky. I always thought it was dreadful and thought others must be getting like 8's and 9's or something! But that's good news if its normal to be mid-way!

Unless I'm mistaken, collective marks can't end up higher than other marks in the test - so say you had lots of 5s and 6s in your test - your collectives will likewise be 5s and 6s.
I wrote for a dressage judge when a poor girl was having all sorts of problems wit a bucking pony. It was getting 3s and 4s for movements and at the end the judge said she would have liked to have given the girl more for her riding, but as she had not ridden through it thereby earning higher marks, that she couldn't!

Don't know if this sort of scenario is applicable in your case at all, but food for though nonetheless!

Well, probably means you have room for improvement but remember the judge wasn't riding your horse. What makes them think they could do any better

5 is ok... judges too easily give 7's and 8's for what is 5, it raises peoples expectations when they still have alot to do..

some of the greats get 7 and 8 for superb work which would so easily outshadow our own 7's and 8's.

think also unaffiliated tends to mark higher..

after all it's half way there and not many get 9's all the time!
