Too scared!!!

My horse loves to jump but charges in and feels like a plane taking off - I've only had her 5 months and haven't got the hang of it. Last time I tried I ended up round her neck, she was very patient and came to a stand still for me so that I could clamber back up :)

What an angel.

At the moment we're doing the occasional 2ft6ish jump as she's pretty unfit and needs to muscle up. I have jumped her over 4ft and we used to compete up to 3ft6. So er... all of the above?

Regularly I compete up to and including 2ft9 classes. I do the odd bigger jump at home and have been known to jump bigger XC. :D

Depends on the horse tbh, on my own in a general jumping session I'll do about 3ft-ish normally...but then in lessons we'll do upto 4ft-ish.

Forgot to mention, it was only a pole just off the ground - 4" perhaps, 6" at most (how embarassing) :)

Currently not much above 2'3 as have gone back to basics with my mare to gain more control but she can happily jump 3ft+ courses. Biggest i've jumped her is 3'6-3'9 but I know she has plenty more in her. I just dont have the courage!

I dont understand how you could be scared to jump :) i love jumping too much lol! saying that i do have a horse that i could trust with my heart , i dnt see why i trust her as we only actually jump the jump 1/6 times as the other 5 times are either refusals or running out lo :) we have jumped 3ft6 at home but out jumping we jump 3ft which is pretty good for a 14.2hh :D

Used to be a chicken at Pony Club and scared to jump anything over 2'6...
Then got Ellie and within a year, we were competing BSJA at 3'6-3'9, jumping bigger at home....
Then had a fall and lost my nerve completely - no jumping at all for 4 years or so!
Now....finally regaining confidence and starting at 2ft / 2ft 3 again :D

Biggest course at a competition 4ft that was a few years ago now though - I think it wold scare me now as I seem to have become more of a dressage person :-)
Biggest jumped at home just under 5ft but on average I would say about 3ft3 to 3ft9 so ticked the 3ft3 to 4ft option.

I am currently jumping about 2ft6-3ft happilly at home. I would like to move on to higher but doubt my ability. The horse can do anything he wants, its just me who holds him back!!

With Murphy I compete at 1.25, so at home we tend to go up to 1.50, but generally at the end of a grid when I can't stuff up my stride, just to make sure that a 1.25 fence in competition looks relatively small!!!!!!!!

It varies so much!! :) I only jump once every 2 weeks or so, as I only have a lesson once a week! But when we do, it depends on which horse I'm riding, who else is in the lesson, how busy it is, how much time we have.. Once I popped a 3 ft 3, yet last week I bounded a 1 ft 9 ish cross pole! :) xx

2ft - 3ft. Teddi loves jumping and so do I.

Although haven't jumped since november, and soon as the baby pops out I will. I still have my xmas prezzie, of a set of showjumps sat in the yard!!

I chose 2ft-3ft but my boy is ex-hurdler so could easily do 4ft if I had the courage! He has the most powerful jump and jumps a 2'6 about 3ft anyway!

with jazz i have jumped 1m over sj and well over 1m (more like 1.20/1.30) over XC jumps this is all at home the most i have jumped at comps is 2ft6 i lose all my bottle at shows. with joe its now poles as he is older and i don't want to break him. we used to jump in excess of 3ft with ease.

I have to admit I was struggling as to which option I should choose... The height of the jump (under a foot, though we are progressing higher!) , or the height my pony jumps it (at least 3 foot) ;)

I come off a lot and often have to be led to the jump to ensure I jump it!

NB, I love jumping, not falling off :P

I was jumping 3' with my previous horse but a serious accident meant almost a year off riding and Im afraid my nerve has gone - even though I actually bought my current horse to progress my jumping. He is more than capable of 4'6 and higher but I will never jump that height - I will content myself with going back to jumping 3' once my confidence comes back and I refuse to let my nerves get the better of me. I have jumped 2'9 at home in a lesson on my boy but I was not confident nor comfortable doing so much preferring the stick to 2'3ish.

This year we will start from scratch once he recovers from his hock issues and we will try and climb our way back up again

Teamchasing, anything up to or bigger than 5 foot..... at home, 3"9 ish, and competing SJ and XC 3"6-3"9 on Ballet. :D

Spanner is 4, and we do about 2"3, 2"6 so far. :)

I jumped 3ft 6 - 4ft or so on a regular basis with a horse I rode for a friend, but I gave up the ride when I was being treated like an unpaid groom - not my idea of fun! The last couple of months I've just been enjoying hacking a veteran for a local lady, have not been jumping or even moving past a sedate canter but absolutely loving it as he is a real gentleman :) :)

Well in the woods we have jumped natural jumps up to about 4 ft :) in the menage they look so much bigger and scarier! so normally around 6 holes up the wing.........how high that is am not too sure, i may need the tape measure out!

2ft-3ft at the moment, as pony has a horrid habit of sliding out sideways at the last moment and if he's being silly towards something 2'6 or under, I don't mind potentially just kicking him over it, otherwise I might die of fright :o Have jumped him 3'6 in the past, never gone much over that on anything though.

I'm a bit of a wuss jumping, but Osc does give me lots of confidence. He's more the 'kick them over' than the 'run off with you over them' kind of horse which i prefer.

I normally stick to around 2 foot, oscar jumps them at least a foot higher than he needs to (they might bite) and the highest i have jumped would probably be 3 foot a couple of times. And probably the same when i was forced to go over a very wide huge XC fence on a wonderful ID. :D I never want to do it again, but i'm glad i did lol

So i put 2-3ft
