How big do your ponies jump?

I’m just curious as to how big peoples ponies jump. I know you get some serious show jumping ponies who jump like 1m20+ but the average pony!

I have a 13.2 and I’m hoping competing at BE80 and show jumping 90cm isn’t too unrealistic!

The minimum height for a pony competing at BE80 is 132cm which I think is about 13h. So long as your pony is happy jumping up to about 90cm then you should be OK for BE80.

That is not unrealistic for most ponies, I have had a range and I think all would have been capable of doing well at those heights, 1 13 hand New Forest I sold did 90's eventing including jumping double clear at the PC champs several times.

The previous one regularly jumped a huge 5 bar gate about 5 foot tall, so I doubt he would have even noticed a BE80! The current one is a 14.1/2hh cobby pony type and has just learnt to jump. She popped 50cms with ease so would manage a BE80 given the right fittening and schooling work.

I jump my 14.2 up to a metre at home, if it's a course we usually do 80-95cms. He loves it and is one of these ponies who makes it look effortless.

I'm aiming to do the 80 at his second show (he's young) which is fast approaching.

Registered pony breeds (M&Ms) are divided into height classes for whp.
133 to 143 jump 90cm max, over 143 (14hh) jump 1m max. (65cm for up to 122/12hh and 80 for 122 to 133/13hh)

Really, it depends on the scope of the pony concerned.

My 13.3 cheerfully pops 70 and needs fully riding for 80. The 14hh has scope to go much more, tho I havent yet explored that as still working on flat work to improve....

When i used to compete my 13.2hh unaffiliated (many moons ago ) our 13.2hh class started at 3ft, with a 3ft 3" jump off i think thats around 90 - 100cm in new money, the only other classes we could compete at our local shows where what we called pursuits classes, which started at 2'6 and 2'9". So no i don't think BE90 is unrealistic. :)

I’ve loose jumped him up to about 1m and he had tonnes of scope to go higher. I know I need to obviously take in to consideration tack and weight of me too!
