im 23 seen a lovely warmblood pony we have a 3yrs old and someone wanting to swap its a lovely pony but wat could i compete in he 14.1 .2 and is stunning wat restictions would i have dressage xc sj BE and showing thanks
BE: All ponies can compete in intro, pre-novice and novice classes, and then if you want to go on into intermediate with a pony you have to get special permission from BE (eg Libby Soley and Noble Springbok have got this).
Ponies have to be at least 142cm without shoes. Horses are over 148cm without shoes.
Armhole - yes, you don't get any points for placings until novice level. But a horse which has won three pre-novices can no longer compete in pre-novice (or intro), it would have to do open pre-novice or open intro.
Horses are now over 150 with shoes, new rule this year to allow for fitness and excitement whilst copmeting.
My daughter events a 148cm at Novice level sucessfully. The only problem you may have is striding in combinations, ours is long striding despite being 100% pony.
Whisky is totally spot on! For unaffilated there are no rules on heights at all. RC have some though.
For FEI there are no height restrictions though, this why Karen O'Conor completed 4* on her pony and why Althea Bleekman was allowed to do a 2* on her pony (but later found out she was to young, but pony was fine!!!).
ahh but you cant do pony eventing if you are over 16... so then you have to "upgrade" your pony to do eventing; but i am not sure on the restrictions of a 23 year old to compete on a pony??
Think you can probably do Seniors BSJA as well because when I enquired about riding a pony in Seniors they didn't seem too bothered how big it was. Things might've changed these days though!
For Riding Club Area and National stuff the pony has to be a minimum of 14hh, so you'll be OK there
