How big is a bale of hay?

Might be a stupid question... but when they quote a price for a bale of hay... how big do you expect the bale of hay to be???

In other words... why don't they just do it in kilos!!!!

Yes, that's sort of what I am starting to get!!! Every single bale I see at different yards is quite different in size or shape and form!!!

the big agri markets sell hay by tonne It's roughly 50 small bales to a tonne...it makes much better business to sell it per bale to horsey people though
