Hi just wondered what you thought? Was all set to buy myself a little four year old after keeping my son in horses for years it was my time at last. Was told she was about fifteen one which i thought was perfect. Turns out when they measured her for me she is only fourteen two in front and a bit bigger behind. this is without shoes. I am five foot four and about ten and a half stone do you think I will look too big or feel silly on her. Want her for a bit of dressage and may be small jumping eventually. She is a medium build. Thanks in advance.

Nooooo, not at all! I'm about the same height as you, 5ft5 at the most and at 14 I had a 17HH! I know have a 15.3hh and she feels just right! I also ride the dun in my sig who is 14.2hh

If you want to do any jumping I'd go for something bigger - 14.2hh might be fun, but will struggle with the striding on bigger jumps

I'd go for a 15.2hh to 16hh

It depends a lot on build, but sounds ideal, given that she's almost certainly got some growing to do. I'm sure you won't be rushing things until her front and back end start to catch up with each other. Good luck and have fun!

I'm 5ft4 and ride a 15hh Light weight, I wish she was 3 inches bigger but she can take my weight fine, I am a couple of stones below her weight limit....but be warned the can turn on a sixpence
