how big is pony club open and intermediate eventing?

Intermediate same as a Be100 course and Open the same as BE Novice. Tougher course at Area though and then tougher still ie more challenges at Nationals :)

Open = BE Novice level in height and technicality jumping wise, I'm not sure about the dressage but you can find the test on the Pony Club site.

Intermediate = BE PN level though the XC optimum time is BE Intro, the dressage test is very simple and pretty dull at this level!

For normal PC stuff, you can switch between the 2 if you like. For areas, you have to chose one level and stick to it- if you chose intermediate SJ, you can't do open SJ or whatever!

Though you can do Inter Dressage then Novice SJing and Eventing though :).

Yep!

Oh, and if you've done BE100, you can't do Novice, if you've done BE Novice you can't do Intermediate and if you've done BE Open Ints you can't do Open! However, your horse can do whatever with a different rider.

If you do open eventing (at non-areas as well), you MUST do open showjumping and open dressage :)

If you do Intermediate eventing, you can do Intermediate showjumping and Open dressage if you wished :)

The Champs at open eventing are Novice BE height but of Intermediate BE technicality, the intermediate eventing are PN height but of novice technicality :)
I've done both levels at the champs - the Int in 2006 and the open in 2010 :p

If you chose to do open you can't go back to intermediate In the future as far as I am aware.. Unless there has been a rule change xx

You can if your on a different horse ;)

for example - last year I did the open champs on Merlin. I sold Merlin and bought a young horse, Billy.
With Billy, I can do the intermediate level eventing :)

Unless eligibility rules have changed there are limitations on what your horse has done in the previous year, these are on the website too so best to clarify this years rules :)

Yeah, and if you do Int, you can't go to Novice... Sister couldn't take her green ex-racer to novice areas because she'd done intermediates with her schoolmistress 14.2hh...

The only thing I'd add, too, is that the SJ at PC Open, at least at Areas, is bigger than your average Novice BE: the max height for PC is 1.15m and it tends to be this all the way round the course, whereas at BE they are only allowed 2 straightforward fences at 1.10m. It made a difference to our 14 hand pony last year!

In 2010 Beatle did Open Eventing and Int Show Jumping on Amber and Int Dressage on Twilight

in 2009 she did Open Eventing and Int Show Jumping on Amber and Open Dressage on VIP

in 2008 she did Int Eventing and Int Show jumping on Leo and Int Dressage on VIP

2010 we had a girl do Open Dressage and Novice SJ and Eventing and did the championships for all in 2009 we had a Boy do Open Dressage and Novice Eventing

So the quick answer is to look at the rule book cus you can do Open and Int..... but you cant go back ie VIP cant do Int and Amber cant do Int Eventing.

So this year Beatle will do Open Eventing Int Show Jumping on Amber and Int Dressage on Flossy or Amber or Open on VIP

re speed I think that Int is faster than BE90 but need to look up rule to be 100%

thanks everyone.. our pony club is pretty awful at getting everything together and sorted, (last year they were choosing the team by ringing everyone up saying.. do you want a go, on the closing date of the areas..:o:confused:) .. so i thought if put in some preperation this year then... i'd be a step ahead of them ;)
i think i will stick to intermediate in all  thanks for all your help tho :)
