thankyou, we tried this when she was 18 months old but it took her to 16 hh, people have been saying she won't even make 15 hh

I hope that you get 15hh too. People often forget that horses don't stop growing until they are approx 5 1/2, maybe she'll have a growth spurt soon. ;)

Mine was about 14hands at that age, and hes the same breeding. Hes about 15.2hh now at 3 months off 3yr old and I reckon will be full up 15.3hh by the times hes totally finished

Thankyou both! Sounds like there maybe hope! she has gone from a little scrawny looking thing to a much more filled out beautiful horse now. she was 2 a fortnight ago and is bang on 14 hh so I was hoping she would get to 15hh at least. Fingers crossed the spring grass will help her grow now! What did you feed yours?

thankyou everyone. She has changed so much just in the last 3 months and is 14.2 at her bum. If she makes 15hh i will be more than happy, anymore is a bonus!

If she doesnt make 15hands I'll eat my hat AND yours! lol My pony cob was 12.2hh at 2 and a bit and now at 4 is 13.3hh with a bit to go still!

ah! Thankyou! to be honest we are pretty hopeful she will make 15 hh but so many have said she won't grow much more we have started doubting ourselves! She is still very leggy and a real beauty, looking and temperament! so even if she freezes at this height, i will just have to go on a serious diet!!

the basic rule is 2 hands on yearling height, 1hand on 2 yr old height, so your well within that :D You are now expected to post in a years time with an update!

The old arab lines, Crabbet & Old English can be late maturing, as an example I bought my Crabbet mare aged 4 at 14.3hh from breeder who didn't think she'd go any bigger. The showing modern lines seem to mature earlier, as wanted for age classes in show ring. Mine didn't stop growing until aged 7, at 15.1hh, & only then really started to fill out. Also depends on what your ISH has in them, ours is 3/4tb, 1/4id, but was full grown (16.3hh) by age 6 when we bought her. If your ISH predominantly tb, then probably early rather than late grower, so would expect to finish going up by 5ish.
