How can I convince my mare to wee in the stable?

She hasnt always been like this and cant remember if anything or what could have triggered her to decide weeing in the stable is a no no but its starting to concern me now she is spending longer in the stable.
For months she hasnt wee'd in the stable, they are in at night all year round and the first thing she does when turned out is walk off for a wee. Ive ridden in the mornings before turning out and she still waits. Yesterday they came in at 2 ish, we rode, I thought shes got to have a wee tonight but nope! Toddles off this morning in the field for a wee.
Ive started whistling when she wees, hoping she may start to associate that to weeing on command. Ive read putting shavings in a bucket and trying to catch it, then putting that in her stable can work. Thats my next attempt, god help me as I expect shes bound to have a melt down when it hits the bucket!
Any ideas please?

My gelding doesn't wee inside - he's been 17-18 hours before now and it's not good for him as in the morning it's really dark coloured and stinky. He's been like it the whole 3 years I've had him.

I've tried straw / shavings/ pellets / massive bed / thin bed / different location stables - nothing makes any difference.

I now take him out to week v late at night - walk to patch of grass - he sniffs then wee's immediately then back in stable. It's totally ridiculous in the snow and pissing sideways rain, but I figure it's better for his welfare when he really won't go inside.
If he doesn't wee he stops drinking - so watch that too.

We have this problem with Monty. Nothing will make him do it. We just get him in as late as possible and put him out as early as possible to manage it as best we can. We can't even take him to a patch of grass, he has to be in his field and not being held. He never drinks much in his stable either. When he was on box rest, he eventually weed and drank but it took 2 1/2 days. We even had the vet subscribing to wee-watch. At camp he he will wee on a lunge line (not lead rope, you have to be at least 5m away!) on grass if you keep him out there long enough but he never drinks for the first day at least. We make his feed extra sloppy to get some into him at least. I don't know if he doesn't wee because he doesn't drink or doesn't drink because he doesn't wee!

I don't know if he doesn't wee because he doesn't drink or doesn't drink because he doesn't wee!

For mine it is definitely not dinking because he won't wee - when I take him out to wee on the grass regularly he drinks a normal amount. If I have to put them to bed early for some reason and he hasn't had a late night wee, then he doesn't drink.

This is not helpful, but I wish I could stop my two flooding the stable with wee when they are in. :D
If it's pee you need- perhaps we could trade horses?

On a serious note - reasons she might not be happy to go - slippy surface, other dominant horse's smell in the stable, splashback on legs, lameness.

My old girl always used to wait until you put her feed bucket in, then turn away and wee. She did it in both stable and field - used to walk away from her feed bucket to have a pee, then come back and eat. And we weren't allowed to look at her.

Thanks everyone. Ive rightly or wrongly put a bit of her next door neighbours wee in tonight. She is the dominant mare, wees almost as soon as she goes out and I have seen it dark on occasion. She drinks normally, has a decent amount of bedding down, I removed the bankings as read any change could cause this, and they were a new addition. She was off work for months with lameness but wee'd during that time, shes been back in work now for months, physio regularly and all good atm. With the dark nights, she has to come in at a decent time, they want in, I just wish she would wee lol!! As for bedding, shes saving me a fortune but what she doesnt wee, she makes up for in poo lol.
