while i am one, as is my mother, to very quickly say.. i have very unhorsey parents, i do everything myself blah blah blah.. i thought.. as i am very very happy right now,:D i was wondering how much do your parents put in..
my dont do much physically.. apart from drive the trailer.. (which i am keen to do, but only when legal!)..
but wow, behind the scenes.. just wanted to publically say.. thanks mum!!
am i the only one??? ???;)

lol, unfortunately I didn't start riding until I was 20, mum hates thinks things that have fur/hair are icky, she will come close enough to take a photo but nope, no help, do have to give kudos to my amazing friends :)

PS though she does put up with the smell when I get back from the yard :)

My parents would probably complain most about the competitions actually! They tow me anywhere within a two hour radius (although I did go to Inverness, Scotland last year!) and then hang around all day come rain or shine (usually every weekend too)!
I generally do do everything else by myself except winter morning turnout and muck outs which my father helps me with on our way to school/work. Of course he does now have a horse himself (although today marks the 17th consecutive day I have done his horse- not counting!) so that is to be expected.
Oh and my parents foot all the bills :D:cool:

My family were not horsey but as i started riding they were really supportive. My dad constantly drives me to and from the yard and comes to support me at shows and even comes along when im just being groom. He is useful to hold stuff and pass it when i need it :) he also takes me to the tack/feed store and always buys huge bags of carrots for all the neddys at the yard.

So he is great but i dont tell him that :P

WOW you guys are lucky, although my dad is ALWAYS at the yard, he is very non horsey *he likes to think hes horseman of the year* but i have to pay for Everything - and have since i was 14

woops.. i forgot to mention the tiny fact that as my mother claims she doesnt know one end of a horse from another.. she still mucks out and turns out my horse everyday while i am at boarding school.. as william fox pitt once said.. you must know something to be able to do that!!!>.;)
i love my mum.. and dad.. (hes the financial booster) :(:o ..

ps.. dont worry .. im not a spoilt brat.. i have a job to earn my keep ;)

I am a parent, when I was a kid I was horse mad. My parents let me get a pony but the rest was up to me. Which was fine, life was simple then. My parents did help pay for things and every now and then my mum still shouts me a load of hay or something.

My husband and I have paid for the kids ponies, and the horse property they keep them on. I pay for everything (feed, farrier etc) for the ponies, I drive the kids everywhere, and I always help when they are out with them. I still do a lot less than most the pony club mums. (But I suspect these mums do not work).

They do not get a lot of lessons, as by the time we have paid for everything else, my husbands good will is extinguished. I expect my kids to help out at home with jobs, like cleaning the house, yard, garage, cars, and any fencing or gardening jobs, which they do do, but grumble about.

It is brilliant that you appreciate your mum and dad, you should let them know. It is much more rewarding when your kids are able to be grateful and appreciate what you do, than expect it or take it for granted.

My parents are amazing- completely unhorsey (literally there couldn't be anyone less horsey!) but they've always supported me and helped a huge amount. They bought me my first horse, and my companion pony, had paddocks built on our land so I could bring the horses home. Despite knowing nothing about horses my dad feeds my pony for me whilst I'm at uni, even brings her to and from her lower and upper fields. They do pay for insurance but I pay for everything else. They really are brill and I know how lucky I am :)

my mum - whilst not horsey - understood my love and passion from 6 yrs old - i remember a letter i wrote and left under her pillow when was 13 - now with 41 yrs experiences of working owning and loving the horse - thank you mum you believed in me and now my daughter and i have a passion and love, we have spent so much quality time together, we have laughed we have had so much fun and sucess - and thats down to you mum - so un horsey but saw a need in me - its my time now to be there for you and for all the belief you had in me for all your love i will always be there - my mum thank you x

Mine ferried me back and forth from my yard whilst recovering from a broken back. One trip was even at 10pm as my gelding had to be sedated at 6pm to have his teeth done and I didn't want him having nothing to eat all night.

My non horsey sis has also been mucking out whilst Ive been recovering :) she's grown quite attached to my mare ;)

I'm allowed to drive now aslong as I wear my back brace. Yay! :D

I pay for my horse myself.......

but before i could - my mum contributed more (11k) than i can ever pay back for a HUGE vet bill.....

When i was younger they ferried me to the yard etc....(mainly mum!)...puts up with the smell etc

My parents arnt horsey - but my folks do come down the yard now and again........to make sure ive not killed the horse :D lol!!.....cause they do actually like her really :D lol

Mine are fab too!! Mum does the poo picking most days when I at work and feeds all the ponies everyday and dad picks up the hay supply and sorts out the fencing. :D

My mum is non horsey but i have always managed to have a horse to ride, and now i am lucky to be in a position of having my own yard mum (and auntie and uncle) come and poo pick every day and do various other jobs.
Yes i do tell her on a regular basis how thankful i am, and get her little treats whenever i can
