right here's the situation, we moved house in april and our landlady said that she didn't want the dogs living in the house. there is a kennel outside, so they are in there.
but in the last month or so Storm has been refusing to let shadow lie down and he keeps going for him. Storm has bitten him a few times. we are geting to the stage where we are thinking about getting Storm put down.

any ideas on how we can stop it.

ETA: he is good when on walks and doesn't go for Shadow or any other dogs

Sounds like it may be a stress thing. Is there plenty of room for them both in the kennel? If they are used to more space and the comforts of home the more dominant dog may be getting protective of his space.

Get another kennel? Is there room? When we had a large one for two dogs neither of them would use it at the same time, it was like musical chairs. We got another kennel, problem solved.

we had thought of that but there is not much room in the run for another kennel, and they go out for 3 walks a day.
in the kennel there is enough room for them both to lie down comfortably.

Speak to the rescue people who rehomed the greyhounds to you, they can advise best - and they should also rehome Storm so he is an 'only dog' if it is really necessary, seems a bit harsh to have him PTS over this IMHO

As the others have said, it sounds like a territorial/space thing?

BTW if you got them through GRWE (cant remember if you did or not) they specifically say that the greyhounds they rehomed should never live in kennels - and yes, I know only too well how hard it is renting with dogs, I've done it myself

Yes, with mine too, but they still didn't want to lie down in it together!
How about selling the big kennel and getting two smaller ones? Dogs can see kennels as their 'safe' place and some don't want to share it with anyone else.

PTS is a bit extreme, sounds like it could be sorted easily enough.

no i got Storm from Hathern (and they said that he prefers to live in a kennel) and Shadow from a women in Shefield- but as far as i can remember she didn't say anything about where he prefers to live.
we had thought about rehoming Storm, but then thought what if they ignor the kennels advise and get another dg, and the same thing happens to them.

i dont really want to get rid of him, but if needs must then that is what we are going to have to do

I'll have him - he would get along with my two girlies fine

No, no, must NOT have another greyhound, must NOT have another greyhound......

^^^ That's what I am suggesting. If your current one is too big, sell it and get two smaller ones, to me it is obvious that this is a security/space/territory issue.
If, as you say, this is the only area where there is a problem, it seems like a simple solution to me!

Can you muzzle him so at least he can't do any harm? It sounds like a territory/dominance thing so maybe the pecking order has changed with their change of circumstances but not sure how you would sort it. CALA would know.how come she's not dived in to save the day?
