how can i get unbroken mare to accept bit n bridle

Is this your new girl?
If so hon, she really needs a decent amount of time to settle before you start all that.
And as she was unhandled when you got her, I would be doing lots of basic groundwork with her. Leading, handling, moving back, over etc.

Again...time and patience :)

Wasn't she off the forest pretty much unhandled a week or two ago? I would allow her a few months at least before you start going about putting a bit in and saddle on her back. Do lots of ground work to get her used to being handled and to gain some trust in you.

Once the mare is used to being handled and settled with you and her surroundings etc, my first point of call would be to get a qualified dentist to do her teeth before I put anything in her mouth. That way you can rule out any oral pain.

^^^^^^this :)

Also when you do bit her, which at 3 she is more than capable of having a bit in (have her teeth been done do you know?), use something inoffensive such as a nylon/rubber/happy mouth type. Smear honey or something over it so she actually associates being bitted as a pleasant experience. Warm the bit up aswell as some horses hate the coldness.

Just take your time, if she is new to you as Joanne says do plenty of groundwork to build up that trust and bond :)

As above, but I was given the tip to wrap a normal bit in vetwrap, then put the honey/golden syrup on that. Nice warm, soft, yummy tasting bit! Worked a treat with the mare I used it on, who had been unhandled a few weeks before.

If you are getting this kind of reaction the horse or pony is really not ready if your mare has been unhandled you have to treat her as younger than she is if you know wht i mean, you cant expect her to be as ready as a horse of the same age that is used to being handled and that has had proper training it is much easier if you wait until they are totally relaxed and trust you.

:)
