Hi all,

My mare is a lovely jumper but as the jumps get higher she gets faster :o I have tried using bounces and pole work but she just flies over them at a rate of knots!! Any helpful ideas/tips would be gratefully recieved ;)

I've seen people with horses that rush making them halt after every fence until they start to cool down a bit. I don;t have the problem, I am usually making the engine!

Thanks wolfie :)

I've heard of that method too. But unfortunatly I find it difficult to halt her at the best of times as shes a very bolshy headstrong horse. I ight give it a go and see what happens tho

Have you tried jumping coming off a circle at a steady canter? I find this helps my rusher. It may also be that the horse isn't strong enough yet to do a steady jump and isn't confident he'll clear it unless he gets a run up. Keep to heights he can do steadily and perfect those then move up gradually.
